New Hampshire Film Location Spotlight on July 29 to feature Team O'Neil Rally School

Team O'Neil Rally School featured as filming location
at upcoming Film Office event

As part of a new program to showcase unique filming locations around the state, the New Hampshire Film & Television Office will be holding its first quarterly Location Spotlight event at the Team O'Neil Rally School and Car Control Center in Dalton on Friday, July 29 from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

New Hampshire's film and media production industry members are invited to attend this free half-day event (bring your own lunch!) which will include an informational session from the Film & Television Office, an introduction to the School with owner Tim O'Neil, tours of the property, and a demonstration on extreme sports video techniques--including the use of GoPro® camera equipment--with Ty Leger, an action sports shooter from Kettlebottom Productions of Rhode Island. There will also be a chance for several attendees to win a hot lap around the course in a rally car!

Team O'Neil Rally School and Car Control Center was established in 1997 to provide a safe and realistic environment for students of all abilities to develop a high level of driving performance and automotive awareness through world-class instruction, teamwork, and development of state-of-the-art technology. Students learn skid control, accident avoidance, and vehicle dynamics. Owner Tim O'Neil, an American rally racing driver and winner of five North American rally championships, was a factory driver for Volkswagen and Mitsubishi, and has participated and placed in rally events all over the world. He has coached hundreds of rally drivers all over the country, including four-time Rally America Champion Travis Pastrana and Ken Block, the 2005 Rally America Rookie-of-the-Year and three-time X-Games medalist.

A perfect location for filming vehicles and pyrotechnic effects in a controlled environment, the Rally School offers 6.5 miles of dirt and gravel roads on 600 acres of land for high speed chases--located in a beautiful mountain setting in northern New Hampshire (with views of Cannon Mountain and Mt. Washington). The property also features a new giant skid pad, 260-feet wide, and a smaller, 180-foot skid pad. The center is fully operational during winter months for snow and ice driving conditions (and if the weather doesn't provide, snowmaking is available!) Other amenities include classrooms, office space, service and fabrication shops all located within their 3600 square foot, Gambrel-style headquarters. On-site vehicles include a fire truck, water truck, as well as grading and plowing. A fleet of rally cars is also available. The center is located 10 minutes from I-93 (with close connection to I-91 in Vermont) and full visitor services available in nearby Littleton, NH.

Film and media production professionals interested in attending the event must RSVP to Matthew Newton at the New Hampshire Film & Television Office by July 25 via email at Linkfilm@nh.gov or by phone at 603-271-2220. A full itinerary, directions, and carpool opportunities will be posted on the Film & Television website shortly at http://www.nh.gov/film.
